About GeekDigest
Whenever I attend South African geek events like Geekretreat, 27 Dinners, Tweetups or just general ‘get-togethers’ I am always amazed by how many of us are doing amazing online work, very often with very little recognition or publicity.
South Africa’s online landscape is thriving! But we would be forgiven for not realizing this, because it is mostly under the radar, hush-hush stuff.
I am not sure why, but South African are not as bombastic and self-congratulatory as our counterparts in other parts of the world. Our modesty, in this case, does us no justice.
So, inspired by discussions at the latest Geekretreat, I have created this small site. Its aim is simple: GeekDigest monitors and reports on what South Africans are doing in the “Geek Space”.
Expect short posts, with lots of links to other stuff.
If you are doing something that you think we should all know about, let me know. I’ll blog it here asap. Email me via the contact page on this site, and include all links necessary.
The site is meant as an inspiration for those who want to get more involved in the world of online entrepreneurship, and those who are already active in it and want to stay up to date on who else is doing what.
So I will also include stuff that is happening in other parts of the world that I think is relevant to our developing spirit of online entrepreneurship.
Let me know what you think. And of course, as usual, spread the word!
Cheers,
Eve Dmochowska
